New Game Angling Instructors For Scotland

Assessment!Scottish game anglers wishing to improve their skills will find it easier to locate a qualified instructor following the latest Scottish Game Angling Instructors Certificate (SGAIC) assessments on 27th/28th March. Seven candidates qualified as SGAIC instructors over the weekend.

In order to qualify as an instructor candidates must pass a written exam, give a formal presentation on a game angling subject, and pass a rigorous practical assessment. All candidates are assessed by independent assessors from the Association of Advanced Game Angling Instructors (AAPGAI), and also receive training in first aid and safeguarding children.

“The SGAIC qualification continues to go from strength to strength”, said Will Shaw, chairman of the Scottish Anglers National Association (SANA) SGAIC committee. “We’ve added xx new instructors to the game angling community over the last three years; helping hundreds of people either to enter the sport, or to improve their skills.”

The SGAIC qualification is unique in that candidates benefit from a structured programme of training and coaching in the six months prior to their final assessment.

“We want our candidates to have the best chance of passing the assessments, and the course also helps us build a tight sense of community among SGAIC instructors”, commented Will Shaw.

“We are very proud of our continuing association with AAPGAI. Their highly experienced assessors help ensure that we continue to maintain a high standard, and the relationship means that instructors have a clear path to take should they wish to develop their skills further.”

Successful candidates for the weekend are:
