November 2009 - SGAIC 09/10 - CPD Day
The first ever SGAIC CPD day took place on the 15th November. 18 instructors convened at Leven for a day of presentations and workshops aimed at maintaining a high standard of instruction for SGAIC holders and at providing opportunities for them to continue to improve their knowledge and skills. We had two external workshops from Jim Fearn and Tony Riley, both AAPGAI masters.
Subjects covered during the day were varied:
- Teaching the basics
- Pike Flyfishing: What you need to know
- Rod design and manufacture (an industry perpective)
- Spey casting masterclass
- Curves and mends
In addition we just had a great time casting and chatting!
We had great feedback from all present, and a unanimous vote to run another CPD day in the spring.
